Solo Accompaniment Guitar
Explorations in the Key of C

In this workshop we’ll explore the art of solo accompaniment guitar.
We’ll work our way through 3 different songs in the key of C.
Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”
Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia On My Mind”; and
George Gershwin’s “Summertime” (actually in the key of Am).

Emphasis will be on:
“less is more” developing bass lines
right hand picking technique
coordinated left hand technique and shapes

Students will be given:

Charts and Lead sheets for all three songs
Chording Diagrams

Students should already know and have the following rudiments:
the basic chord shapes out of the key of C including:
C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am, Bm
be able to fret using all four fingers of their left hand to some degree

Please note that I am primarily a flatpicker. But these principles can be applied to fingerpicking as well.
